Project Context & Scope

Postnatal rehabilitation workshop delivered at Up Studio Sunshine Coast, focused on educating postpartum clients about diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA), pelvic floor function and safe exercise progressions to support healing and long-term core stability.


Responsibilities & Contributions

  • Developed workshop curriculum and structured learning sequence

  • Researched and wrote educational content and supporting handouts

  • Created diagrams to explain muscle function and assessment technique

  • Designed and produced the Mummy Core & Pelvic Floor Workshop Handout (PDF)

  • Facilitated in-studio workshop session, instruction and guided exercise practice

  • Provided follow-up assessment and progression recommendations for ongoing training clients


Objectives

  • Increase awareness of DRA and pelvic floor considerations post-birth

  • Support safe return to exercise through correct muscle activation and alignment

  • Provide clear assessment techniques for self-monitoring progress over time

  • Reduce risk of long-term pelvic floor dysfunction and core instability


Sustainability Impact Considerations 

  1. Health Literacy: Empowered postpartum clients with clear, evidence-informed education to support autonomy and informed decision-making

  2. Long-Term Physical Wellbeing: Focus on prevention, gradual strengthening and functional movement, reducing risk of re-injury or chronic issues

  4. Community-Based Support: Encouraged ongoing participation and progress tracking in a supportive studio environment


Outcomes & Key Results

  • Delivered in-studio workshop with positive participant engagement

  • Participants gained practical skills for assessing and tracking DRA

  • Clients demonstrated improved pelvic floor awareness and core activation in follow-up sessions

  • All returning Up Studio clients progressed safely into ongoing training programs

  • Workshop PDF continues to serve as a reference resource for new postpartum clients
